Body/Mind/Soul psychotherapist, Donna Grant (LICSW, LADC1, RPP) hosts Dan for a speciail series of Family Constellation circles in Swampscott, MA. Three circles in three weeks enables new participants to familiarize themselves with the process, find a healing resolution for their most serious issue, and deepen their understanding of the aspect of inner being we call 'soul.' If this is your first Family Constellation circle, please read these brief articles What is a Constellation? and Healing in Groups.
It is difficult to appreciate how different Constellations are from more familiar group methods. People leave the circle feeling wiser, lighter and more open-hearted. The positive effects deepen, rather than wear off, over time.
A Constellation is a nearly silent, emotionally grounded, and deeply profound group process. While little known in the U.S., it is very popular throughout Europe. It begins with one person asking for help with a pressing personal issue. In about 30 minutes, the Constellation reveals something essential that is immediately understood. It is not uncommon for participants to report afterwards that the issue has eased or even resolved completely.
The experience provides life-changing insight into the hidden roots of depression, addiction, sibling estrangements, money problems, child custody conflicts, and chronic loneliness. Constellations are especially effective when the circumstances of your problems change, but the fundamental pattern remains the same. It's not about changing what you think. A Constellation heals a part of the wounded Self that "thinks you."
Several thousand independent psychotherapists, medical doctors, healing arts practitioners and non-licensed facilitators employ the approach world-wide.
Dan trained directly with Bert Hellinger and many leading European practitioners. He has been facilitating for five years. He is receiving his Ph.D. in psychology from Saybrook Graduate School and previously earned a MBA from Boston University. He is a successful business owner and has long been active in German-Jewish-Palestinian reconciliation efforts.
The value of this simple, yet profound experience is rapidly gaining recognition:
- "Of the group processes I studied, the one that seemed to me most subtle and nuturing, the one that brought people closest to resolution, was the Family Constellation based on the work of Bert Hellinger."
Andrew Solomon, The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression.
"The fourth level of healing is the Intuitive Body, what Jung called the collective unconscious. For healing on this level, Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt recommends Family Constellations. He says they can release the energetic legacy of an injustice which the family was never able to resolve." Stephanie Marohn, The Natural Medicine Guide to Anxiety.
"Therapy forms themselves are changing. They are becoming simpler, more intelligent, and more effective, occurring on a level where the esoteric and the commonplace come together. What is most fascinating about Family Constellations is the way they expand the abilities of discernment without restrictions for all humans." Barbel Mohr and Dawn Baliff, Cosmic Ordering: The Next Adventure.
"The Constellation approach has proven to be a helpful adjunct to conventional therapies. People are unaware how they function as deputies for some relative or ancestor. A Constellation can uncover complex entanglements and defuse problems." Willigis Jager, Mysticism for Modern Times.
"Bert Hellinger discovered how people become entangled in the family past. He also found a way to facilitate healing; he calls his group process Family Constellations." Schoen, Humphreys, and Griffin, Reconnective Therapy: A New Healing Paradigm.
